Squirrel Saver Club

At Bede Financial Group we play an active role in our local community across all age ranges. We actively encourage youngsters to start thinking at an early age of their finances so that as they grow older they are well equipped to deal with the financial world and their own money. They are also the savers of the future which we see as a really important thing to support and seek to make saving fun for them!

How Did the Squirrel Saver Club Start?

One March morning we had a squirrel come and visit us, edging his way through the open door looking for nuts to gather. This gave us the idea for our young savers club and we held a competition for local schools in Marske to name the squirrel. The winning name was ‘Red’ and he is now the official mascot of the club.

What Does the Squirrel Saver Club Include?

Each child that opens a One Day Savings Account receives their passbook and membership of the Squirrel Club. Red the Squirrel will also send them a certificate of membership. Some Squirrel Club stickers and a pin badge. Savers with over £1,000 get a Squirrel money box too – but the children can also buy one for only £2.99.

Red the Squirrel in the Community

Red supports the Save Our Squirrels charity along with other local charities and good causes. At Christmas time he can be seen with Santa on the Marske Christmas Parade float. He also enjoys his local sport and is an avid supporter of Marske United FC, and  Marske Cricket Club,
