During 2011 the Bede Group will donate £1 for every new non life policy taken out, and renewed through Bede Insure, and also embark on their own fundraising events locally for this very worthy local cause.
In 2010 Teesside Hospice also received a donation from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable foundation fund.
About Teesside Hospice
Teesside Hospice Care Foundation based in Middlesbrough, also working in the Marske by The Sea and East Cleveland area, was established in 1982 to enhance the lives of local people suffering from life limiting illnesses in the Teesside region free of charge. The Hospice cares for over 3,000 individuals each year.
The majority of the care to patients and their families focuses upon pain and symptom control, but they also provide respite care to allow relatives a break whilst caring for their loved ones.
The services offered by Teesside Hospice include:
· 10 beds for Inpatient Care
· Edward & Glenis Guy day care centre based at Teesside Hospice Care Foundation facilitating 16 guests per day
· Adult Bereavement Counselling Services
· Children’s and Young Adults ‘Forget-Me-Not’ Bereavement Counselling Service
· Regular Outpatient Clinics
· Lymphoedema Clinics
· Home & Hospital visits
· Working in partnership with specialist Nurses
· Guests can also enjoy facilities such as our art and craft room, hairdressing salon, Jacuzzi bath and complementary therapies.
How they are funded?
Most people are surprised to learn that the annual running costs are in excess of £2.2 million. They receive in the region of one third of these costs from the local NHS and must therefore raise approximately £4,400 each and every day of the year from their own resources, most of which is generated by the activities of their Trading Company.
Who do they care for?
Individuals are cared for within Teesside Hospice when they are suffering from any progressive disease such as Advanced Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart Disease, and other life limiting illnesses.
