Here at the Bede Financial Group, we aim to provide guidance and assistance for all your financial needs.  To make sure we are providing you with the most appropriate products and services, we often have to ask you a lot of questions about your aims, your goals and your general lifestyle.

We think it is only fair therefore, that you should know a little about us also...

 

John McVeigh

John was born in Birstall, West Yorkshire and moved to Marske in 1991.  He embarked on his career in the Financial Services sector in 1982, with the Co-Operative Insurance Society (CIS Limited).  He then moved to Standard Life Assurance Company in 1998 to develop his experience and knowledge.

In 2001, he established Bede Financial Services, later to become the Bede Financial Group Limited.

John is an avid supporter of most spectator sports, however Batley Bulldogs Rugby League club are his biggest passion, and for his past sins, he is a keen Leeds United fan.  In recent years, he has taken an interest in Markse United FC, his local amateur club who currently play in the Northern League.

He is a member of Saltburn 41 Club, and a past chairman of the Saltburn and Redcar Round Table.

 

Tony McHugh

Tony has lived and worked around the UK, working mainly for major financial institutions, eventually settling in Teesside in 1998 with his wife and two daughters.

Tony has gathered a wealth of experience and knowledge over the years in all aspects of financial planning, specialising in the areas of Retirement and Investment Planning.

Tony is  a Member of The Personal Finance Society by Diploma and holds the designation DipPFS.  He holds qualifications in Pensions (G60); Taxation and Trusts (G10) and Investment Planning (G20).

He also has an in depth knowledge of mortgages due to his 10 years at Woolwich plc (now part of Barclays) where his last position was as District Manager.

Tony is a regular contributor to BBC Tees on financial matters and also a panellist on their 'People's Panel', commenting on topics of the day.

Tony is also a supporter of local businesses through his active membership of his local BNI chapter in Middlesbrough (http://www.bni-europe.com/uk/) where he currently holds the role of Chapter Director.

His spare time it taken up with keeping fit at the gym (or so he claims!) and spending time with his family.  Tony is a keen Newcastle United supporter - although mostly from the comfort of an armchair these days!

  

Joanne Pearson

Joanne began her career in business and finance in 1991.  During her career, she has spent ten years working as a Business Adviser and the last four years as a fully qualified Independent Mortgage Adviser.  Joanne holds the Certificate in Mortgage Advice Practice and is also a Member of the Institute of Professional Will Writers.

Joanne joined the Bede Financial Group in December 2009 and today advises customers across the full spectrum of mortgages, life insurance, wills and savings.

Joanne has lived in Marske all her life and has two children.  She is a keen horse rider and enjoys watching her eldest son play football for Redcar Town Football Club and her youngest son water-skiing on the Tees!

Joanne really enjoys working for the Bede Financial Group as they have an excellent reputation and provide an invaluable service to the local community in which she lives.

 

Gwen Sutton

Gwen began her career in the General Insurance sector in 2000 after graduating from Northumbira University with an Honours Degree in English.  She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both Personal Lines and Commercial Broking.  Gwen is a Certified Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Gwen joined the Bede Financial Group in 2009 and as well as being the primary contact and adviser for Bede Insure, has been fundamental in the establishment and continued success of the Yorkshire Buidling Society Agency in Marske.

Gwen says about her role with Bede Insure and the Group, "having worked for a large commercial insurance broker and direct insurance companies, it's great to get back to dealing directly with customers and being able to offer a more personal, tailored service".

Gwen lives in Saltburn and is a keen runner and can often be seen jogging locally, as well as at Saltburn Leisure Centre's Gym.  She enjoys dinner with friends and socialising.  She is also now a fully fledged 'Football Mum' and loves watching (and cheering from the sidelines) her son play football for the newly formed Saltburn Athletic Under 7s Team.

 

 Nicki Armstrong

Nicki has just relocated to the area with her husband and two young children having previously worked for the Yorkshire Building Society in the Selby branch for the past 6 years.  Having worked in a branch for a number of years, Nicki has great experience and knowledge of YBS products and is able to provide a high level of service facilitating all your financial needs.

Nicki enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, socialising and has a keen interest in many sports.

 

 Rachel Petherbridge

Rachel has just left Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough having completed A Levels in Law, English and Sociology. She will be trained by Gwen in the Bede Insure side of the company alongside gaining a NVQ in Business Administration. She is looking forward to working within the company, gaining knowledge about all areas of finance.

Rachel is also a waitress and enjoys socialising with her friends and keeping fit at the gym.
