Our History

The Bede Financial Group was founded in 2001 by John McVeigh who was joined in 2004 by Pension and Retirement Planning Specialist, Tony Mchugh.

Between them, John and Tony have over 40 years experience working for well known and national institutions.  Through their expertise and qualitifcations, John and Tony have acquired an excellent reputation, both locally and nationally due to referrals from satisfied customers.

A well established business in the area, the Bede Financial Group made the decision in 2009 to expand to provide increasing services to the local community.  In November 2009, we moved to a new shop front/high street premises at 2 Redcar Road in Marske.

November 2009 also saw the arrival of Gwen Sutton.  Gwen has worked within the financial services sector for ten years and specialises in general insurance, heading up the Group's non-life insurance arm, Bede Insure

Experienced local Mortgage Adviser Joanne Pearson joined the Group in December 2009 and specifically deals with all new mortgage and re-mortgage enquirires.

Skelton based Nicki Armstrong has recentally joined the team, bringing with her a wealth of experience, having worked at the Yorkshire Building Societies Selby branch for the past 6 years.

Rachel Petherbridge is Bede's newest employee, training in Business Administration aswell as learning the insurance side of the company.

In February 2010, after settling nicely in to the new premises, we opened our doors and introduced the Yorkshire Building Society Agency to Markse-by-the-Sea.  Whilst other financial institutions are 'closing their doors' on the local community, the Yorkshire Building Society Agency (which offers a full range of services - savings, bonds and mortgages) is providing a much welcomed an essential service supporting  the East Cleveland area.

2011 will see the tenth anniversary of the Bede Financial Group so watch out for future celebratory events.
